Hi, my name is Sarah Burns and I work with people who feel emotionally distressed or uncomfortable due to expected or unexpected life transitions. We work together in an LGBTQ and diversity affirming space to identify and work toward your goals. I work with clients and couples who are experiencing significant anxiety and stress due to recent life transitions and changes. These changes could include relationship changes, move, change in career, losing someone you love, gender transitions, college, etc. Life is full of changes and transitions. I specialize in helping people find balance, including physical balance, work-life balance, family life balance, and self-care balance. I help people to improve their self-awareness, self-esteem, and build skills to navigate life’s difficult challenges. People say that working with me helps them to process their swirling thoughts and problem solve tough situations.
Each person’s goals are different when working with me in therapy, although I do emphasize a few values throughout my work as a counselor. I value exploring past childhood experiences, and how they are impacting you now. How were you taught to process and interact with the world around you as you grew up?
With new adventures come seemingly endless changes, worries and problems. Transitions can be exciting, but you can also feel extremely stressed and lonely. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a licensed professional to talk with about sensitive and personal issues? I value challenging people I work with to explore how their lifestyle habits are impacting their feelings, choices, relationships, and behaviors. I come from a “whole body” perspective where I believe that if you move and take care of your physical body, you can make significant positive changes to your emotional being. Walk and Talk Therapy not only began because I like to be out in nature while I work, although I do, trust me. Walk and Talk also developed because there are impressive benefits to moving your body for an hour, breathing fresh air, and taking in the sounds, sights and smells of nature. Feel the crunch of leaves under your feet, hear the birds chirping, feel the space of being outside. I know that everyone needs a unique approach with therapy, so I offer Walk &Talk, Online, and office based therapy in Charlotte, NC.
Hi, I’m Loki. I love people and my job is to comfort people. I work with my Mom to provide Animal Assisted Therapy in Charlotte, NC to help people feel better, faster. If you get uncomfortable in therapy, I can help you relax and cheer you up with tail wags. I have trained really hard to become a therapy dog (registered with Therapy Dogs International ID #200197) and I'm pretty great at making people smile. I love belly rubs, cuddles, playing, and romping in the woods. If you'd like to work with me, reach out to my Mom!
