Walk and Talk Counseling is different from traditional therapy in that you meet your counselor outside on a path or trail. The combination of walking and developing a meaningful relationship with an experienced therapist can help you to achieve your goals more quickly.
Enjoy the benefits of fresh air, moderate exercise, and having your counseling session in a natural, beautiful environment.
You can feel comfortable walking side by side your counselor knowing they’re not judging you.
Clay Cockrell of NYC, who founded WalkandTalk.com has been featured on countless news sources and podcasts including The Broken Brain, Good Morning America, The Wall Street Journal, AM New York, WebMD, and The Times for his work in Walk and Talk Therapy.
Clay began to realize that some of his clients were too busy to commute all the way to his therapy office. Sound familiar?
He decided to meet clients closer to where they worked - in his case, Central Park, in my case, Uptown Charlotte or close to it. We can go for a walk together during your lunch break.
There are many reasons that you may not be able to commute across town for therapy. If meeting for a counseling session in the park next to your office works better for you, reach out to me today.
Be kind to yourself. Refresh and reset by strolling in the park, finding movement in the midst of a busy day, and disconnecting to connect.
Charlotte’s local Public Radio, WFAE, published an incredible series on Work Life Balance . Neil Pasricha, the director of The Institute for Global Happiness, explained that if we are happy we are more likely to live longer, we are physically healthier, and we are more likely to be promoted. He gave 5 quick tips for becoming happier, and guess what his number one happiness tip was? Neil said to spend 20 minutes outside, unplugged, walking in nature per day, and you will be happier. He explained that trees release specific chemicals that contribute to lower stress levels.
The American Psychological Association says that incorporating movement and nature in counseling allows clients to relax and connect during session. Exercise has countless benefits for mental health. Physical activity, especially important during times of transition, eases pain and stress by increasing the release of the “feel good” neurotransmitters (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, endorphins, etc.). You cal also benefit from increased vitamin D from a walk in the sunshine.
Walk & Talk Counseling is a passion project for me. We all have unique needs for counseling or therapy, and we all don’t fit on the therapy couch. It is most important that you find an environment that works for you. That is why I am now offering Walk & Talk Counseling sessions here in Charlotte, North Carolina. Counseling sessions will be outdoors in local Charlotte parks and greenways. See Charlotte Agenda’s The Complete Guide to Charlotte’s Greenways for more info on where Walk & Talk will happen and some of the routes we may take.
See the world clearer by uncovering the best version of yourself through Walk & Talk Counseling.
